BLOC Eyewear has been creating high quality sports and fashion eye wear products since 1998. They are a luxury brand that operates in a highly competitive market. Their customers are a discerning group and require the BLOC website to enable them to quickly identify a quality eye wear product that is ideally suited to them and their needs.
BLOC approached CDD to redesign their old desktop site. The brief was to produce a well-executed e-commerce site that enabled customers to purchase with ease; whatever the product they require and regardless of device. Understanding that a quality hosting platform would be key to the successful running of the final online store, CDD called in Wirehive as their hosting partner upfront to design a tailor-made hosting solution for BLOC.
Wirehive worked with the creative and technical teams at CDD and BLOC to understand the visual, UX and e-commerce best practice elements that were being incorporated into the new site design. They also performed some analysis of traffic levels on the old site and the anticipated uplift of visitors and transactions after the new site was launched. Having looked at the project from the ground up Wirehive were able to propose a robust but flexible solution that would allow BLOC to scale in accordance with seasonality and planned promotions.
The primary focus for the redesign of the BLOC site was on a user journey that leads to sales. CDD ensured all routes lead to the product with a mix of visual hooks to engage the user at every point, without sacrificing usability. To support BLOC’s drive for increased online sales and basket conversions Wirehive built BLOC a dedicated cloud server to provide uncontended resource for the website. This was coupled with a tierless managed support contract which meant Wirehive proactively dealt with all alerts and monitoring to fine tune the performance of the site.
